Certified Irrigation Contractors have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of irrigation installation – everything from layout and design to soil/plant relationships, hydraulics, electrical power and system maintenance. In addition, all Certified Irrigation Contractors must pass a rigorous national exam before being certified and have a minimum of three years field experience.
Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) – The CID engages in the preparation of professional irrigation designs. They evaluate site conditions and determine the net irrigation requirements based on the needs of the project. The designer is then responsible for the selection of the most effective irrigation equipment and design methods. The objective of a CID is to establish specifications and design drawings for the construction of an irrigation project.
Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) – The CLIA is involved in the analysis of landscape irrigation water use. Auditors collect site data, make maintenance recommendations and perform water audits. Through their analytical work at the site, these irrigation professionals develop monthly irrigation based schedules. Prior to certification examination, auditors are required to take an Irrigation Association approved preparatory course.
Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT)- The CIT are certified field technicians who install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. They gather in depth knowledge on understanding the limitation of different piping systems and basic hydraulics. These certified technicians understand installing different pipping and water delivery components; backflow prevention components; mechanical, hydraulic and electrical irrigation controls; and other irrigation system components.
